Colin qualified from Edinburgh Vet School in 1985 and initially spent 5 years in mixed practice in Lockerbie. Following this he spent 20 years as lecturer/senior lecturer at the Farm Animal Teaching Practice at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. During this time he gained various post graduate qualifications including the Diploma in Bovine Reproduction (DBR). He is a European and RCVS recognised specialist in Cattle Health and Production. For the last 14 years he has worked as technical vet consultant with Pfizer AH/Zoetis and is based in the Scottish Borders.
